Eletrobras Furnas system installs energy efficiency at its headquarters

Eletrobras Furnas is doing its part for the economy of the country's energy. The latest initiative to reduce consumption of electricity is the deployment of a prototype energy-efficient lighting at headquarters, in Botafogo. The system, pioneered in Brazil, consists of fluorescent lamps and dimming ballasts, addressable and digitally controlled with occupancy sensors, lighting, wall keypads and remote access control. Measurements taken after the implementation of technology in office environments Eletrobras Furnas showed a reduction of approximately 50% in energy consumption, which can reach a savings of 40 MWh / year. Connected to a network, the system allows adjustment of illumination intensity according to the need of the environment, with ranges from 10% to 100%, thus avoiding wastage of electricity. The system further provides for multiple inputs, which allow greater control, remote access, and capture sunlight from the environment to best fit luminosity. The deployment of new technology, acquired through a bidding process, required investment of $ 194 000 Eletrobras Furnas.
