Improving the energy rating of a building can bring savings of 76% cost of the owners, which would amount to a saving of 5.36 euros per square meter, according to a study by University of Madrid and sponsored by the Foundation asprimas , Gas Natural, Uponor and Ursa-Pladur. The energy classification of buildings authorized by the Technical Building Code is similar to other products such as appliances, where A to E and the highest to lowest. The research says that a family living in a home type B of 90 square meters could save 482 euros in electricity and gas in a year compared to the cost of a house type E
The study argues that this data is also critical "in terms of environmental sustainability, as the economy in CO2 emissions would be almost 30 pounds per square foot per year. Thus, for a house of 90 square feet to save a house on a B and would be 2700 pounds of CO2 per year.
To make the report evaluated the construction costs and energy consumption of a building already built. The scenario chosen was Vallecas 08, a residential building, comprising 143 residences. We studied all the materials of the building, structures and components, both construction and insulation, energy consumption or comfort and has been assessed as if they could modify the building for better energy rating. Furthermore, it was calculated how much this change and saving energy and economic assumes that better qualified.
The president of asprimas, José Manuel Galindo, the goal is that the developer can make the business decision to construct a building with a solution of integrated components to ensure that the investment will result in a building with a rating of guaranteed energy, which represents a saving of energy costs.
