The potential for saving energy in Brazil

The Journal Lumière Electric in its September issue, published an interview with the president of the Brazilian Association of Business Services for Energy Conservation (Abesco), Ricardo David, where he reports the potential and the initiatives being taken to contribute reduction of energy consumption in Brazil. According to the publication, are thrown away $ 20 million annually with the misuse of power in Brazil, R $ 8 million related to the waste of electricity. In order to reduce the data and thus contribute to the preservation of the environment, raised the financing of projects and performance contracts, which aim to develop resources for the reduction of waste in industries such as manufacturing, commerce, courts public and residential.

In this scenario, created the Program for Energy Efficiency Projects (Proesco), an initiative promoted by the National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), worth around $ 200 million per year in the country and opening up alternatives to the market as a whole, with new business opportunities for carriers, equipment manufacturers efficient, business users of energy, and especially for Escos. President Abesco also explained in the interview, details about the borrowing, how to organize your enterprise to have access to funding for an energy efficiency project and revealed the most recent actions in order to facilitate the release of credit for projects to reduce energy consumption.
