In order to develop the technical parameters for measuring the energy efficiency of buildings, in order to promote the conservation of electricity, Eletrobrás in partnership with the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro) launched the "Label Energy Efficiency in Buildings "aiming for commercial buildings, and public services, through the National Program for Energy Conservation in Buildings (Procel Build). The label is part of the Brazilian Labeling Program and seeks to recognize projects that promote energy savings. The system is similar to that used in appliances, however, applied in buildings, to make a distinction and a comparison of the degree of efficiency between a building and another.
When it learned of the program, the Federal Savings Bank has shown interest in owning buildings labeled. For this, sent to a laboratory accredited report of two of its agencies, including the agency Garden of the Americas, located in Curitiba (PR). In operation since December 2008, the agency Garden of the Americas was the first building to receive, on 2 July this year, the label for energy efficiency in Brazil. And the Lumière Magazine in its issue of September 2009 published report on the characteristics of effective agency and on the savings achieved, highlighting the systems and lighting circuits.
